Bianca Rousselot obtained her BA Politics from the Government Department of the University of Essex, Colchester, UK, and her MA Political Science from the Graduate Institute of International Studies (IUHEI, now IUHEID), Geneva, Switzerland. Additionally, she holds a postgraduate certificate in applied statistics from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Science of the University of Berne. While at the University of Essex, she received the Lord Leatherland Prize for the best second year student and the Jean Blondel Prize for the best undergraduate degree result.
Before returning to the university and more academically-oriented research, Bianca worked as a researcher and project manager at the private polling and research institute gfs.berne (www.gfsbern.ch) where she was, among other things, responsible for the Swiss National Health Monitor, the Swiss Worry Barometer, the organisational side of the Vox analyses of federal referendums and initiatives, the opinion polls on national votes on behalf of Swiss national television, as well as the Swiss Election Barometer 2007. Currently, she works as assistant to Prof. Adrian Vatter at the University of Berne. Her tasks involve research as well as teaching activities. Her main research interests are Swiss Politics, direct democracy, theories of voting, voting behaviour, public opinion and polling.

In addition to teaching academic courses, Bianca has also been regularly involved in programmes run by The Initiative and Referendum Institute (IRI) Europe and the Institute of Federalism at the University of Fribourg, giving presentations on Swiss politics (in particular direct democracy, referendums and initiatives, voting behaviour, political parties) to foreign delegations.
